Hi! I’m Mariana Hermosillo Méndez
I was born in Guadalajara, México . I moved to Vancouver, Canada
, in 2021.
Since I was a child, I have always loved drawing and painting, as well as telling stories.
I graduated in 2020 from UNIVA (Universidad del Valle de Atemajac) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animation, Digital Art and Multimedia. In addition, I successfully completed a Continuing Studies Diploma in 2D Animation and Digital Art at Langara College (Vancouver, BC, Canada) in 2022.
I have worked as a 2D Animator, Director, and Producer on the short film The Moon’s Letter (2023). In addition, I have participated in different independent illustration projects and in the animated web series Origen, creating backgrounds. I have also been an animator in the short film A Helping Hand
(2020), a story about friendship and respect for nature. I’m focused on 2D animation and illustration.
In March 2025, I published my first book, titled Draconem
. This project took years and a lot of research to come to reality. I had a lot of fun working on it, both with the writing and the illustrations. It’s the first of many!
Years later, I graduated from Stenberg College (Canada, 2026) as an Early Childhood Educator and Infant-Toddler Specialist
. Since then, I have had the honor of working at excellent schools as an ECE IT and art teacher, including: Jüngr (Guadalajara, Mexico, remote), Sacktoon (Guadalajara, Mexico, remote), Arts Umbrella (Vancouver, Canada), and CEFA Kitsilano (Vancouver, Canada). Working with children has been a magical experience, where they welcome you into their world, where they must learn to communicate, acquire new skills, and have fun while learning.
I’ve been very happy combining both careers—as a teacher and an artist.
My hobbies are painting, drawing, hanging out with friends, reading, and of course, watching series and movies, being my favorites How to Train Your Dragon, Naruto, Spirited Away, Lilo & Stitch, The Lion King, Your Name, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and, Tangled.
We all have a story
